In 1995, Hasbro decided to put their newly acquired Kenner licenses to good use and created a new line of Star Wars toys. The figures were a hot commodity when they first came out. Collectors would purchase every single figure they could get their hands on in the hopes that they would someday become as valuable as their Kenner counterparts. Hasbro was more interested in making money off of the line than producing collectable toys, so they proceeded to flood the market with toys to ensure that everyone could get the new figures. But at the same time, Hasbro destroyed any collectable value that the new line would have in the future.
